From the moment we landed in Barbados, we felt like we were home. It was that feeling of welcoming, comfort, and ease. It seemed like the whole island agreed to be that bright and wonderful.
If there's one thing you absolutely must try while visiting Barbados, it's surfing. The southwest provides fun, playful and warm waves that any beginner surfer can catch some waves. If you head to the east coast, you'll find Bathsheba, the Surf Bowl, and extremely skilled surfers. Waves are massive and the rocks are even bigger. Surfing the small, warm waves was the highlight of my trip...so much so I'm thinking of buying a surf board for this summer! Besides spending our days catching surf and sun rays, we loved sailing with Elegance and swimming with sea turtles. (How could you not?)
There is so much to explore and try, but there is also so much to be said about taking it easy and enjoying the slower pace of the island. We're New Yorkers and we can often find it challenging to just sit and chill out. But that's when the magic happens. The colors of the sunset start to shine or your glance down on your leisurely walk to find a frosty piece of aqua sea glass.
